A 4–3 final in Guatemala ended Brazil’s run of world titles.

Event date:
The story
Spain won the FIFA Futsal World Championship by defeating Brazil 4–3 in the final in Guatemala on 3 December 2000. FIFA’s historical account describes a comeback against the tournament’s established power.
How it unfolded
Daniel put Spain ahead after two minutes. Anderson equalised before Javi Sánchez restored Spain’s lead at the interval. Goals by Manoel Tobias and Vander Carioca then took Brazil in front. Javi Rodríguez scored in the 36th and 40th minutes to turn the final back in Spain’s favour.
The wider picture
Brazil had won the preceding three editions. Spain’s victory therefore changed the championship’s list of winners rather than adding another title to the same national sequence.
The competition is now commonly discussed as the Futsal World Cup, although the official match replay retains the historical World Championship name. The linked FIFA records make the result and date traceable without confusing the indoor futsal tournament with the outdoor football World Cup.
The official match archive identifies the venue as Domo in Guatemala City and records an attendance of 7,500. The final score was 4–3 after regulation time.
