Detail

Ebbe Sand reduced the deficit in the 54th minute, leaving Schalke only one goal behind. Joerg Boehme was then sent off in the 62nd. Context and dates

The DFB and Schalke's own historical record agree on the completed 4-1 result and 2-0 half-time score. They differ by a minute on Kobylanski's goal, so its exact minute is omitted. Eduard Geyer coached Cottbus opposite Huub Stevens, and the official attendance was 16,009. This report follows one completed match, with its exact historical date kept separate from the modern archive addition.
