Result
Finland won the men's team large-hill competition at the Willingen Ski Jumping World Cup on 2 February 2001. The quartet of Ville Kantee, Jussi Hautamaeki, Jani Soininen and Risto Jussilainen accumulated 1,077.2 points, finishing 93.5 clear of Austria's 983.7. Japan completed the podium with 890.2.
Competition detail
The Finnish team brought together four different jumpers, making the final classification a national-team result rather than an individual victory. Austria fielded Martin Hoellwarth, Stefan Horngacher, Wolfgang Loitzl and Andreas Widhoelzl. Japan's line-up was Kazuyoshi Funaki, Kazuya Yoshioka, Hideharu Miyahira and Noriaki Kasai.
Germany placed fourth on 804.0 points and Poland fifth on 797.1, a separation of just 6.9 points. Norway, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland and Sweden occupied the remaining places in the ten-team classification. Those positions put the scale of Finland's advantage in context: its margin over Austria was substantially larger than the gap between the next two teams.
Context and dates
This was the team contest in a three-event World Cup meeting. FIS lists separate individual large-hill competitions on 3 and 4 February; those were distinct later results, not additional parts of this team decision. The historical date here is the exact competition day, not the date on which this archive report was added.
