Sweden wins its third World Junior ice hockey gold

Sweden defeated Czechia 4-2 in Minnesota, adding the 2026 title to its previous championships from 1981 and 2012.

Sweden beat Czechia 4-2 in the IIHF World Junior Championship gold-medal game on 5 January. Sweden built a 3-0 lead before Czechia mounted a late response, then protected the advantage to close the tournament.

The gold was Sweden's third in World Junior history, following titles in 1981 and 2012. The event brought the leading under-20 national teams to Minneapolis and Saint Paul from 26 December to 5 January.
