New York Liberty sweep top-seeded Minnesota to reach WNBA semifinals
An 87-71 Game 2 victory completed a 2-0 first-round series win for the eighth-seeded Liberty.
The New York Liberty advanced to the 2026 WNBA semifinals after beating the Minnesota Lynx 87-71 in New York on 29 September. The eighth seeds completed a 2-0 sweep of the top-seeded team in the best-of-three first round.
The completed series is a new stage beyond the opening-game results previously reported by iintroo. Minnesota's season is over, while New York will face the winner of the Atlanta Dream–Washington Mystics series.
The official WNBA bracket confirms New York's advancement and lists the start of the semifinals for 4 October. The Atlanta–Washington series had not been decided when this report was published.
