Life and work
The story behind the role.
Aylin Suntay graduated from Üsküdar American Academy and Istanbul University's English-language business programme. Her non-sport career includes roles with Grafika Lintas, Initiative Media, Deniz Yatçılık, Carat Media and Suntay Project Tourism Consulting.
She competed in Cadet, 380, 470, Europe, Dragon, Pirat and yacht classes. Representing Türkiye, she placed second in the women's 470 at the 1991 Balkan championship and won the class in 1992. Suntay has been a national sailing umpire since 1992, a level-two coach since 2007 and an international umpire since December 2023; she also served on the Central Umpire Board from 2019 to 2024.
