The story behind the role.
Aynur Demirel completed a sports physiotherapy doctorate at Hacettepe University in 2015. Her doctoral thesis compared treatments for lumbar disc herniation, while her earlier 2011 master’s thesis examined shoulder-joint arthrokinematics in athletes with physical disabilities.
Hacettepe’s CV explicitly records work as a physiotherapist for Türkiye’s federation for athletes with physical disabilities beginning in 2010. Her academic history includes a research-assistant appointment during 2014–2019 and an associate-professor entry from 2020. It also records research experience at the University of Alabama at Birmingham during 2019–2020 and a visiting appointment at Karolinska Institute in 2019.
