The story behind the role.
Ayşegül Mert, identified by Georgia as a native of İstanbul, reached No. 52 in the ITF junior rankings before entering college. Her junior record included eight ITF titles and a Grade 2 title in Oberhaching, Germany.
With Dasha Vidmanova, Mert won the 2024 NCAA doubles championship, the first such title in Georgia women’s tennis history. She contributed to Georgia’s 2025 NCAA team championship and was named an ITA All-American in both singles and doubles in 2026. Her university records a career-best collegiate singles ranking of No. 4 in 2026.
