Former Türkiye international right wing and Beşiktaş handball assistant coach.
Life and work
The story behind the role.
Bülent Erkol is a former Türkiye international handball right wing who later moved into coaching. A Beşiktaş biography records that he began playing in Trabzon in 1989, represented 24 Şubat from 1994 to 1999 and ASKİ from 1999 to 2004, then joined Beşiktaş before the 2004–05 season.
The same club biography credited him at that point with five Turkish league titles, four Turkish Cups, a Balkan Championship runner-up finish, 80 youth internationals and 60 senior internationals. EHF competition records trace his European club career from Trabzon 24 Şubat and ASKİ through Beşiktaş, where he played as a right wing and scored in Champions League, EHF Cup and Challenge Cup seasons.
Beşiktaş's 2026–27 staff directory lists Erkol as an assistant coach. The club also named him in the Türkiye senior men's national-team staff invited for the May 2026 World Championship qualifying camp, distinguishing his present coaching work from his earlier playing career.
