Life and work
The story behind the role.
Dan Benardot is Professor of Practice in the Emory University Center for the Study of Human Health. Emory records that he joined the centre after retiring from Georgia State University, where he had been a tenured full professor of nutrition and a full professor of kinesiology and health; Georgia State lists him as professor emeritus.
His research and consulting have focused on energy availability, nutrient timing and the performance and health consequences of how athletes distribute food intake. Georgia State reports that he has worked with hundreds of elite athletes and teams, including the United States women's gymnastics team that won Olympic gold in 1996 and the American marathon medallists at the 2004 Olympic Games.
