Life and work
The story behind the role.
Daniel Rhind is Professor of Sport Psychology and Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Loughborough University. He joined Loughborough as a Reader in Organisational Psychology in 2018 and received the personal title of Professor in 2023.
His research addresses safeguarding people in, around and through sport. Loughborough credits his work as fundamental to the International Safeguards for Children in Sport, now endorsed by more than 400 organisations, and documents research on children's rights around mega-events and on using sport and sport-for-development programmes to build protective life skills.
Rhind completed a PhD at Loughborough University in 2008, an MSc in Applied Psychology at Cranfield University, a postgraduate certificate in higher education at Brunel University and a BSc in Social Psychology at Loughborough. He is a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
