Life and work
The story behind the role.
Göztepe's current men's first-team directory lists Engin Erel as an assistant coach. The club says he had been part of Göztepe Basketball for 15 years by March 2026, coaching every academy age group and coordinating the sports school from 2012 to 2024 before becoming a senior-team assistant in 2024.
On 18 March 2026, Göztepe added academy-coordinator responsibility to Erel's senior-team post to strengthen the pathway between the academy and first team. That current coordination duty is recorded as an administrative role as well as coaching; no education or qualification details are inferred.
