Erhan Karagün began sailing at İskenderun Sailing Specialization Sports Club in 1987, aged six. He competed in Optimist and ILCA at regional, national and international events until age nineteen.
After a break for university study, Karagün returned to sailing as a coach. The federation's Coaches Board profile records him as a coach at İskenderun Sailing Specialization Sports Club.
