Life and work
The story behind the role.
Figen Altay is a physical education researcher and lecturer. Figen Altay completed physical education teacher training at Gazi in 1980–1984 and a Gazi master’s in 1987–1990.
Figen Altay completed a Hacettepe sport-sciences doctorate in 1996–2001. The official academic record lists a doctorate-qualified lectureship at Hacettepe from 1993.
Her departmental home is Physical Education and Sports Teaching; the profile lists teacher education among her research fields. A 2022 coauthored study examined a short video physical-activity programme and students’ fitness. A 2026 coauthored publication addresses inclusive practice and signature pedagogies in physical education teacher education.
