Life and work
The story behind the role.
Işıl Alben moved from a long playing career into Galatasaray’s general-coordinator role. She began with İstanbul Üniversitesi in 1998, joined BOTAŞ in 2006 and first joined Galatasaray for 2007–08.
Her first Galatasaray spell included the 2013–14 EuroLeague Women title. She spent 2014–15 at Dynamo Kursk, returned to Galatasaray in 2015–16 and captained another EuroCup-winning side. A later BOTAŞ spell began in 2020.
Galatasaray announced her retirement in 2023 and subsequently appointed her general coordinator, retaining her experience within the women’s programme.
