Life and work
The story behind the role.
Marco Knoop is a German goalkeeper coach and former regional-level player. Trabzonspor's current senior-team register lists him as one of the club's goalkeeper coaches. The appointment returns him to Turkish football after his 2020–21 period coaching Fenerbahçe's goalkeepers.
Brighton & Hove Albion's official staff biography records a 13-year regional playing career in Germany followed by coaching work that began at VfL Bochum in 2006. He moved through RB Leipzig under-19s and Borussia Dortmund's youth system before senior posts with Fenerbahçe, FC Nordsjælland, St. Pauli and Brighton. That path combined academy goalkeeper development with first-team work in several national leagues before his 2026 Trabzonspor assignment.
