Football referee with a mechanical-engineering background and UEFA referee-development experience.
Life and work
The story behind the role.
Born in Samsun in 1979, he began refereeing in 1995 while still at school. He studied mechanical engineering at Istanbul Technical University, graduating in 2000, then spent a year studying English in California.
By the time of his December 2011 TFF interview, he had entered the Süper Lig refereeing group and completed UEFA’s CORE development course.
His professional work included the family shipping-agency business and a subsequent investment in corrugated-cardboard manufacturing in Istanbul. The interview explains how he balanced that business with refereeing.
