Life and work
The story behind the role.
Okan Buruk developed in Galatasaray’s academy and was part of the side that won the UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2000. The club records 306 appearances during his first Galatasaray career, which ended with a move to Inter Milan in 2001.
After retiring from playing, Buruk began coaching as an assistant with Türkiye’s national team. His club management career included Elazığspor, Gaziantepspor, Sivasspor, Göztepe, Akhisar Belediyespor, Çaykur Rizespor and İstanbul Başakşehir. He led Akhisar to the 2017–18 Turkish Cup and Başakşehir to the 2019–20 league title, before returning to Galatasaray as manager for 2022–23.
