Ömer Faruk Çanakçı competes in combined events and pole vault for Türkiye. ENKA Sports Club identifies him as one of its athletes and credits Fausto Soares D’almeida Ribeiro as his coach.
At the Turkish Indoor Championships in Istanbul, he scored 5,657 points in the heptathlon on 1 February 2026. World Athletics records that performance as a national record; ENKA’s report of 2 February states that it surpassed the previous 5,639-point mark of İlkay Aydemir.
His World Athletics profile also records 7,055 points in the decathlon in Bursa on 29 May 2022, a 5.25-metre pole vault in Belgrade on 21 February 2026 and a 7.27-metre long jump in Istanbul on 31 January 2026.
