Life and work
The story behind the role.
Sertaç Yakal completed medical education at Istanbul University during 1997–2005 and sports medicine specialty training there during 2009–2014. His specialty thesis examined the prognostic value of cardiopulmonary exercise-test parameters in preoperative assessment of patients with lung cancer.
Istanbul University records his work as a specialist physician from 2014 to 2022 and an assistant-professor appointment from 2022. His supervised research includes oxygen uptake and respiratory function in adolescent athletes, exercise-related bronchospasm, and strength and balance variables in runners. This work connects his exercise-testing background with sport-specific clinical questions.
