Life and work
The story behind the role.
Akşar graduated from Ankara University’s Faculty of Political Sciences in business administration in 1988 and completed a master’s in the same field. He worked in banking management from 1989 until April 2024, while developing a parallel body of football research from 2000.
His books include Endüstriyel Futbol (2005), Futbol Ekonomisi (2006), Futbol Yönetimi (2008) and Finansal Futbol (2020). He co-founded the Football Economics Strategic Research Centre with Kutlu Merih in 2005 and established futbolekonomi.com in 2010. His publisher biography records writing for T24, Cumhuriyet and ekonomim.com, alongside university teaching and public commentary on sports finance.
