The story behind the role.
Yumurtacı Ahmet Bayraktar combined local commerce and public service with practical support for the Beşiktaş fan community. The Beşiktaş Local History Project describes his longstanding grocery business and his work as the elected neighbourhood head of Türkali.
In the 1980s and 1990s, he helped supporters obtain buses for away matches.
He served as Türkali’s neighbourhood head from 1994 to 2018 and died in 2018. The project’s account draws on local reporting and an oral-history interview conducted in January 2022.
