What the publication reports
Sixteen women completed nitrate-rich juice, low-nitrate placebo and no-drink conditions before four sets at 60% of one-repetition maximum. Nitrate did not increase repetitions in either exercise or change perceived exertion, heart rate, blood pressure or lactate compared with placebo.
Limits and interpretation
This small trial tested a single dose and acute exercise protocol, not longer-term training adaptation. Results in recreationally trained women may not transfer to elite athletes, different exercise intensities or repeated supplementation.
