What the publication reports
Of 108 studies, only 40 reported female-specific estimates. Headgear was associated with lower concussion rates in adolescent girls' soccer and lacrosse, but certainty was very low. Pooled analyses did not show clear protection from eyewear or a difference between artificial turf and grass.
Limits and interpretation
Limited population-specific evidence and very-low-certainty estimates prevent broad equipment recommendations. This review is distinct from the FAIR consensus statement. The publisher corrected the article title after online publication; the corrected title is used here.
