What the publication reports
Group-by-time effects favoured additional core training across all three smash conditions. Improvements by the final assessment were greater in the intervention group, while control-group changes were limited or nonsignificant. The study addresses shot accuracy rather than simply trunk-strength tests.
Limits and interpretation
The sample was small and the intervention added training beyond normal practice, so extra training exposure may contribute to the difference. Short-term test accuracy does not establish improved competitive results, injury prevention or lasting benefits. Replication in other athlete groups is needed.
