What the publication reports
Nineteen studies were included. Midcourt roles generally accumulated the greatest movement volume, internal load and change-of-direction demands, while attacking and defensive circle roles showed different jumping and multidirectional profiles.
Limits and interpretation
Methods, technology, competition levels and reporting varied, and the authors identified important risks of confounding and measurement bias. Position averages should not be treated as individual workload targets or injury-risk thresholds.
