What the publication reports
Thirteen male university athletes completed hydrogen-water and placebo sessions separated by one week. Hydrogen water was associated with higher average power, smaller work decrement, faster recovery of selected heart-rate-variability measures and about 1 mmol/L lower three-minute lactate.
Limits and interpretation
The sample was very small, male and single-blind, and only an acute laboratory session was studied. The results do not establish durable training or competition benefits.
