What the publication reports
Five included studies reported performance outcomes; four described a positive effect. The individual study samples were small, ranging from 10 to 43 athletes across different sports.
Limits and interpretation
Small samples and differing sports prevent a firm, universal performance claim. The review does not establish that one dietary pattern meets every athlete's fuelling requirements.
