What the publication reports
Eleven studies met eligibility criteria and nine contributed to meta-analyses. Greater leg-press or squat strength and bench-pull strength correlated with faster ergometer performance; explosive strength also showed associations.
Limits and interpretation
Correlations do not prove that increasing one lift causes faster rowing. Ergometer outcomes may not transfer directly to on-water racing, and targeted intervention trials remain necessary.
