What the publication reports
The review included 131 studies involving 24,586 players and 29,595 injuries. Research concentrated on injury patterns and risk factors; only 7.6% evaluated prevention effectiveness. Around one-third did not state a clear injury definition.
Limits and interpretation
A map of the literature cannot estimate the effectiveness of a single prevention programme. Inconsistent injury definitions and surveillance methods limit comparisons, and eligibility was restricted to English-language original research.
