What the publication reports
Twenty-seven studies were included. Nutrition knowledge usually improved, while dietary intake, body composition and performance results were mixed. Hydration interventions appeared more useful when information was paired with access, cues or feedback.
Limits and interpretation
Many studies were small, short and reliant on self-report, with diverse sports and outcomes. Knowledge gains should not be assumed to produce sustained dietary or performance changes.
