Carlsen and Nakamura draw a blindfold exhibition in Barcelona
Levy Rozman explains a fifteen-minute game played entirely from memory at ICE.

Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura played a blindfold exhibition game at ICE Barcelona, the international gaming and technology trade show. Both grandmasters relied on memory and calculation without seeing the board during the fifteen-minute encounter hosted by BETBY.
Carlsen began with a knight move and developed a double fianchetto position before winning a central pawn. Nakamura answered by sacrificing a bishop to force perpetual check, bringing the demonstration to a drawn conclusion despite Carlsen’s material advantage.
International Master and commentator Levy Rozman explained the moves to more than one hundred spectators. A discussion with all three guests followed, addressing strategic thinking, mental discipline and chess’s growing role in digital entertainment for an audience extending beyond regular tournament followers.
