Azerbaijan expands youth scouting across regional volleyball centres
Regional assessments seek candidates for national youth teams.
Source publication date:
The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation continued a regional scouting programme linked to the CEV school project. January activities reached Baku, Sumgayit, Zangezur, Ganja, Tovuz and Shaki, with further sessions planned for Nakhchivan as the federation sought to identify future national-team players.
Nearly one hundred children attended the Baku regional development centre assessment, which considered physical characteristics before supervised training. On 24 January, national youth and junior coach Shahin Chatma observed about fifty players born in 2012 and 2013 at Ganja’s regional club.
Chatma also assessed girls of those age groups at the Tovuz Volleyball Academy, examining physical and technical preparation. Players demonstrating suitable progress during selection were to be invited into the junior national team.
