FIDE education conference examines school implementation
The conference’s second day connects classroom chess with policy and research.

The second day of FIDE’s Global Conference on Chess in Society and Education focused on learning at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. Education leaders, researchers, federation officials and practitioners discussed how chess can fit formal and informal education systems.
KIIT vice-chancellor Saranjit Singh opened the session, while Chess in Education Commission chair Jerry Nash presented the day’s purpose. FIDE Management Board deputy chair Dana Reizniece connected the discussions with the federation’s designated Year of Chess in Education.
Speakers stressed implementation quality, consistency and alignment with existing learning systems. The programme brought research evidence and practical models into the same discussion, with KIIT founder Achyuta Samanta and FIDE president Arkady Dvorkovich also contributing during the opening proceedings.
