World Boxing president Gennadiy Golovkin identified structured education for officials as a priority after meeting European Boxing’s leadership. He called for clear development pathways and consistent certification for coaches, technical delegates, referees and judges as the federation expands its work.
The talks reviewed the continental body’s recent Under-17 and Under-23 championships and looked ahead to the inaugural European Boxing Championships in Sofia. That event was scheduled for 15 to 26 September, creating a major competition milestone for the new structure.
Other topics included governance, commercial development and closer cooperation between the two organisations. Participants also discussed training seminars and possible uses of technology and artificial intelligence in competition, with Golovkin linking improved education to reliable officiating and athlete trust.
