Athletics Ireland honoured Eamonn Coghlan, Marcus O’Sullivan, Frank O’Mara and Ray Flynn at a GreenTrack fundraising dinner in New York on 31 January. The federation’s 1 February report described the commemoration of their world-record four-by-one-mile relay performance.

The quartet ran 15:49.08 at UCD’s Belfield campus on 17 August 1985 in front of more than 8000 spectators. All four attended the anniversary dinner and received commemorative gifts from Athletics Ireland president Bríd Golden.

GreenTrack supports young Irish athletes through patron-funded talent identification, coaching, education and career development. The federation connected the gathering to its wider efforts to diversify income and strengthen high-performance resources for a membership exceeding 75000 athletes.
