The Hawks guard moved toward possible local-player eligibility from the 2027–28 season.
Source publication date:
Illawarra confirmed that Tyler Harvey had received permanent residency in Australia, with the club continuing to support his family’s citizenship process. The development put the guard on track for possible local-player status from the 2027–28 NBL season, subject to league confirmation.
Harvey arrived before the 2020–21 campaign and had made 188 NBL appearances, averaging 17.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists. His achievements included two All-NBL First Team selections and a role in Illawarra’s 2025 championship.
The prospective status change could provide the Hawks with additional roster flexibility in future seasons. Illawarra’s announcement also outlined its existing contracted core for the next campaign as the team prepared for a must-win regular-season fixture against Adelaide.
