The International Canoe Federation released The Spirit of Canoe Freestyle, a twenty-six-minute film supported by its freestyle committee. The production uses the 2025 world championships in Plattling, Germany, to explore the discipline’s athletes, skills and community.

Featured competitors include Eric Jackson, Dane Jackson and Ottilie Robinson-Shaw. Dane raced with a broken leg, while Robinson-Shaw pursued three gold medals. Ireland’s Thomas Dunphy discusses his decade of daily kayaking in memory of his sister.

The film also follows Nick Troutman’s return after a cardiac arrest and explains technical moves through chief judge Charlie Brackpool. Its coverage of the ICF Development Camp describes opportunities for athletes facing financial and support barriers to international participation.
