Rayan Rupert earns Memphis two-way contract
The former Breakers Next Star converted a short-term opportunity with the Grizzlies.
Source publication date:
Memphis Grizzlies signed former New Zealand Breakers player Rayan Rupert to a two-way contract. The French wing had joined the NBA club on a ten-day agreement in February and produced a productive stretch that led to a longer opportunity with the organisation.
Across that initial spell, Rupert averaged 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.6 steals in 26.6 minutes. The figures reflected contributions at both ends of the floor as Memphis assessed the twenty-one-year-old after his previous NBA experience.
Rupert played the NBL23 season with the Breakers before Portland selected him forty-third in the 2023 NBA Draft. He subsequently appeared in 139 games for the Trail Blazers, the team Memphis were scheduled to face next when NBL published the contract report.
