The children of Ercole Macale donated the two-volume official report of the Rome 1960 Olympic Games to FIDAL Lazio and its competition officials’ group. The organising committee published the volumes in 1962.

Macale, who died the previous October, was one of 210 officials serving during the Rome Games. His sons Riccardo and Fausto made the donation in recognition of his involvement in athletics.

Regional president Fabio Martelli and officials’ representative Mario Biagini thanked the family and stressed the value of preserving sporting history. FIDAL Lazio said readers could consult the volumes at its headquarters after arranging access with the secretariat.
