Sariah Ibarra highlights growing depth in USA sevens
The twenty-year-old playmaker sees a broader range of skills in the Eagles squad.
Source publication date:
United States playmaker Sariah Ibarra described growing depth and tactical flexibility in the women’s sevens squad ahead of Singapore. The Eagles finished fifth in Dubai and fourth in Cape Town, with early-season wins against New Zealand, Canada and France encouraging the group.
Ibarra said younger recruits increasingly arrive with rugby knowledge as well as athletic ability. Under coach Emilie Bydwell, the team is developing approaches that accommodate varied skills and allow players to adjust their attacking style to different opponents and situations.
The twenty-year-old made her sevens and Test debuts at nineteen and played at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. She sees the coming tournaments in Vancouver and New York as opportunities to connect with supporters, while keeping the home Los Angeles Olympics in 2028 in view.
