Former international Luke Treharne outlined how Singapore’s conditions can change sevens technique and tactics. Although the National Stadium cools spectators beneath its seats, players receive little benefit while competing in temperatures above thirty degrees and humidity between seventy-five and ninety percent.

Treharne explained that sweat and condensation make the ball harder to control, increasing the risks associated with long passes and offloads. He described adapting grip and catching technique, reducing passing distance and emphasising secure possession through the contact area.

The analysis also addresses how coaches manage substitutes. Treharne suggested introducing fresh players earlier as fatigue makes precise handling more difficult, spreading the workload across the squad. His account links the tournament’s climate to practical decisions about possession, tackling and the timing of replacements.
