Source publication date:
Barcelona announced an agreement with Girona for Marc-André ter Stegen to join the fellow Catalan club on loan until 30 June 2026. The statement confirmed a temporary move for a goalkeeper who had spent eleven and a half seasons at Barcelona.
Ter Stegen arrived from Borussia Mönchengladbach in May 2014 at the age of 22. His first Barcelona season brought a treble under Luis Enrique, beginning a period in which he collected 20 trophies for the club.
At the time of the announcement, the German had made 423 Barcelona appearances. Only Víctor Valdés, with 534, had played more games among the club’s goalkeepers, underlining the length of Ter Stegen’s contribution before the Girona loan.
