Damian Żurek wins his first international title on home ice
The Polish sprinter delivered 1:08.55 in the men's 1000m at the European Speed Skating Championships in Tomaszów Mazowiecki.

Damian Żurek won the European men's 1000m in 1:08.55, the only time below one minute nine seconds in the field. The performance delivered his first international title in the city where he learned to skate.
Tim Prins of the Netherlands took silver in 1:09.35. Earlier in the session, Davide Ghiotto, Andrea Giovannini and Michele Malfatti set a Tomaszów track record to give Italy the men's team-pursuit title.
