India and West Indies open the U19 Cricket World Cup with wins
The global youth tournament began in Zimbabwe and Namibia with India beating the USA and West Indies defeating debutant Tanzania.

The ICC Men's U19 Cricket World Cup began on 15 January. India recovered from 25 for three to beat the United States by six wickets under the DLS method, while West Indies defeated tournament debutant Tanzania by five wickets.
Henil Patel took five wickets for 16 runs in India's opening win. The Zimbabwe–Scotland match in Harare was abandoned without a ball bowled because of rain, an immediate reminder of how weather can reshape a multi-venue cricket tournament.
