Funchal welcomes Europe's women's water polo championship
Portugal hosted the 21st edition for the first time, bringing 16 national teams to Madeira from 26 January to 5 February.

The Women's European Water Polo Championship began in Funchal on 26 January, marking the senior tournament's first edition in Portugal. Sixteen teams entered, including defending champion Netherlands, Hungary, Spain, Greece, Italy, France, Great Britain, Croatia and Türkiye.
