The Slovenian attacked with 78.5 kilometres remaining and became the race’s outright record winner.

Tadej Pogačar rode clear on Monte Sante Marie and reached Piazza del Campo alone for his fourth Strade Bianche victory.

Paul Seixas finished second and became the youngest rider to reach the podium, with Isaac Del Toro third.
