Al Ahly recovered against Primeiro de Agosto to win the women's African club final
The Egyptian side overturned a two-goal half-time deficit for a 21–20 victory in Luanda on 14 October.
Al Ahly defeated Primeiro de Agosto 21–20 in the African women's club handball final at Kilamba Arena in Luanda on 14 October 2026. The victory gave the Egyptian team its second continental club championship. It came against an Angolan opponent playing in the host city, rather than in a neutral-country final.
Primeiro de Agosto led 11–9 at half-time, but Al Ahly reversed the two-goal deficit after the interval. The winning club credited goalkeeper Jihad's saves and quick counterattacks in its account of the comeback. The final margin was one goal; no unsupported individual scoring or save totals are attached to that description.
The teams had already met in the group phase, when Primeiro won 30–22. Al Ahly subsequently defeated Heritage 30–16 in the quarter-finals and Petro Atlético 27–24 in the semi-finals. Winning the rematch changed the outcome against the same opponent at the decisive stage. Petro Atlético took bronze after beating Abidjan HBC 42–24, completing the women's medal positions.
