Erdoğmuş and Alice Lee enter FIDE’s top 20 in October rankings

The new lists reflect Samarkand performances, with Abdusattorov returning to the open top five.

Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş and Alice Lee entered their respective world top 20s for the first time in FIDE’s October 2026 rating lists. Erdoğmuş gained 15 points at the Chess Olympiad, while Lee added 14. Their ranking milestones are confirmed in the federation’s monthly publication.

Nodirbek Abdusattorov returned to the open top five after gaining 18 points in Samarkand and matching his career-high rating of 2780. Zhu Jiner reclaimed second place in the women’s list with a nine-point gain. Mariam Mkrtchyan and Mobina Alinasab each added 47 points, the largest gains listed among the open and women’s top 100.

The publication also records Bodhana Sivanandan becoming the youngest Woman Grandmaster at 11 and Nodirbek Yakubboev crossing 2700. These are October list and title milestones, rather than new tournament championships. Future lists will reflect subsequent rated games.
