New Zealand beat Australia 50–19 to retain the Bledisloe Cup
New Zealand scored five second-half tries at Eden Park to turn a three-point interval lead into a 50–19 victory over Australia.
New Zealand defeated Australia 50–19 in the opening 2026 Bledisloe Cup Test at Eden Park in Auckland on 10 October 2026. The completed result confirmed that New Zealand would retain the trophy before the second Test in Sydney.
Australia opened the scoring through Tom Wright. Peter Lakai and Tupou Vaa’i replied for New Zealand before Harry Wilson’s try left the hosts 17–14 ahead at half-time.
Cam Roigard and captain Codie Taylor scored during New Zealand’s decisive third-quarter surge. Leroy Carter, Josh Moorby and Will Jordan added tries in the final quarter as the margin expanded from three points at the interval to 31 at full time.
Damian McKenzie contributed six conversions and a penalty. The seven-try victory extended New Zealand’s unbeaten record at Eden Park, which has stood since 1994, and kept the Bledisloe Cup in New Zealand hands for a 24th consecutive year.
